W&R continues the series, “The Glory of the Lord,” with a sub-series this week about the Four Revelations of Jesus Christ in the Gospels.
Today is an overview of these glorious mysteries of the kingdom of heaven.
The four Gospels all have a primary theme, revealing Jesus Christ:
Matthew – Jesus is the King
Mark – Jesus is the Son of Man
Luke – Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior
John – Jesus is the Son of God & . . . the Lord God Almighty
Revelation 4:6-8: Four living creatures
First – Like a lion
Second – Like a calf
Third – Face like a man
Fourth – Like a flying eagle
Tabernacle – Four curtains
Purple – Royalty, King
Blue – Man
Scarlet – the blood, Messiah, the Savior
White – the sinless Son of God
“Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. 8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:
‘Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!’ (Revelation 4:6-8)
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!” (Deuteronomy 6:4, Mark 12:29).
The Lord is one.
He is the only true God.
He has revealed Himself as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Father and Jesus Christ are in heaven.
The Holy Spirit fills heaven and is on and throughout all the earth.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father, the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
The Father God is on the highest throne in the universe.
He is the Father of glory, the great and awesome God of the universe.
At the right hand of His power is His Son, Jesus.
The Father has given and delivered all things to His Son.
Jesus is the exact representation of God’s nature. He is the image of the invisible God.
God’s beloved Son is the King of Glory.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of glory.
What is God like?
He is the most wonderful, most beautiful Person in the universe.
